Our Story
Growing up in Kansas with Ghanaian parents, I was immersed in stories of Ghana’s rich culture, history, and beauty. Those stories shaped my identity and fueled my passion for sharing Ghana with the world. At the same time, I became aware of the challenges and misconceptions that often overshadow the country’s true potential.
Motivated to change these perceptions and foster greater understanding, I launched Anansi Travels as a love letter to Ghana. My goal is to highlight the country’s beauty, culture, and immense potential through immersive and authentic travel experiences. I want to show the world a vibrant and positive side of Ghana, one that exists far beyond stereotypes and misconceptions.
My vision for Anansi Travels extends beyond showcasing Ghana as a destination. I am deeply committed to creating meaningful opportunities within the country and demonstrating its capacity for growth and development. Anansi Travels contributes to the local economy by creating jobs, supporting local enterprises, and investing directly in communities.
I believe in empowerment and in ensuring that the benefits of tourism are felt by the people of Ghana themselves.
Through Anansi Travels, I invite you to experience Ghana in a way that is authentic, enriching, and transformative. Join me on a journey that not only celebrates the essence of Ghana, but also contributes to its growth and prosperity.

About
Anansi Travels (AT) is a culturally-enriching study abroad program, providing college students (rising Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, and recent graduates) the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the cultural beauty of Ghana, while developing a global understanding and lifelong leadership skills.
As an AT participant, students will experience many unique, once-in-a-lifetime adventures, such as exploring the Cape Coast Slave Castles, venturing into lush, untamed rainforests; bargaining over handmade art and sculptures; and dancing on the beaches of Ghana’s southern coast. Each day will allow students to deeply experience Ghanaian culture through the country's local cuisine, stories, and traditions; both inside and outside the classroom.
By the end of the program, students will have gained cultural knowledge, international perspectives and leadership skills, as well as having developed their ability to communicate cross-culturally. These are all necessary skills required for future leaders aspiring to make an impact in their community and in the world.
Where Does the Name “Anansi” Come From?
Anansi is named in honor of an African folklore about a clever spider that uses its creativity, keen wit, and lessons learned to solve challenges along life’s journey. Like this story, our program is strategically designed for students to contribute their knowledge and skills obtained from this experience towards developing innovative solutions on a global level.
Anansi Travel's mission is to deepen students' knowledge and wisdom of Africa through the power of experiential learning. Our program will cultivate creative, introspective, critical, and humane future leaders who will be ready to create a positive impact on the global community.
Our vision is to provide our students with an ethical, intercultural experience in Ghana, where both students and Ghanaians benefit from interacting in a positive and sustainable manner
