Housing

Participants will be housed in designated accommodations at the University they choose for the program- The University of Ghana or Ashesi University. More information will be provided.

 

Travel Logistics

  • Students are encouraged to apply for their passports as soon as possible, as it can take up to 3 months to receive a passport.

  • In order to travel to Ghana, participants must obtain a valid visa. Participants should begin applying for a visa immediately after being offered admission into the program, as it can take several weeks to acquire the necessary application materials and receive approval.

  • Anansi Travels participants are responsible for purchasing their own round-trip ticket to and from Ghana. Participants must arrive at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana. Booking travel is the participants’ responsibility. 

    Program Fees DO NOT include flights to Ghana, vaccination, medication, passport, and visa.

  • Ghana requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travelers.

 

Preparation

After acceptance to the program, participant and guardians will undergo two-weeks of orientation. These sessions will include information about culture and cultural adjustment, safety, how to prepare for the program and the essential items students should pack for a great and safe experience in Ghana.


Application Deadline

Applications are accepted by rolling admission, however, the final deadline for applications will be TBA. 

You will be notified of AT’s decision three weeks after applying to the program.

Your Safety Abroad

  • At Anansi Travels, students’ wellbeing is our top priority. While emergencies are rare, our team is fully prepared to respond quickly and effectively.

    All staff undergo thorough background checks and are CPR- and First Aid–certified. Participants have 24/7 access to trained AT staff, and a 24/7 on-call doctor is available in case of illness or emergency.

    AT maintains close relationships with the U.S. Embassy in Ghana and host government officials to support safety and security efforts.

    Before departure, participants receive risk management training, including health, safety, cultural awareness, and situational awareness guidance.

  • All participants are required to take malaria prevention medication for the duration of the program.

  • Comprehensive overseas medical and accident insurance is included in the program fee. While medical care is rarely needed, Anansi Travels ensures students are fully covered should treatment be required abroad.
